Android This Week: Nook Gets Pandora; Nexus Appears at Google
The Barnes & Noble Nook reader is already proving how open the Android OS can make even the most closed of devices. The e-book reader was reportedly hacked by enthusiasts this week in order to run both the Android web browser and the music streaming service Pandora. The average Nook owner is unlikely to engage in such hacking, but it is surprising...

Super Bowl 2010 Highlights For the Web Video World
Some of the lessons learned from the commercials during Super Bowl 2010: Beer solves lots of problems, women hold men back from their dreams and this year, pants are optional. But there were also some highlights for the web video world. Flo TV pushed their mobile TV viewing device to hen-pecked men dragged out shopping to the game, but they also...

Why GoGo In-flight Wi-Fi Is Garbage
Earlier this morning, when I got on a plane to visit Orlando, Fla., I thanked my stars when I found out that I was on a Delta flight with GoGo in-flight Wi-Fi. I had to wake up at the ungodly hour of 3 a.m. to get to the airport and as a result was behind on my emails, tweets and blogging. A live connection would allow me to do it all. Once the...
How Much Will Google’s Fiber Network Cost?
How Much Will Google’s Fiber Network Cost?
Google today announced an audacious plan to build what is essentially the most cutting-edge broadband network in the United States. While it is being mis-portrayed in certain segments of the media as an ISP effort, in reality it is nothing more than an experimental network, much like Google’s early efforts to provide municipal Wi-Fi in the...

But after using the device for nearly 10 days, I am convinced that this new phone is the best Android device made to date. Rather than...

Android This Week: Is the Bloom Already Off the Nexus One Rose?
Just a week after the Nexus One launched, the bloom seems to be off the rose, as reports are starting to appear in customer support forums that the phone has problems consistently accessing the T-Mobile 3G network. Users claim that the phone is prone to switching back and forth between the 3G and the slower EDGE network, for no apparent reason....
Include a Phone Card when Preparing for International Travel
The last thing most people think about when preparing for an international journey is a calling card but it may be one of the most useful things to bring. There are many important items to remember when packing for an international trip, like travel documents and plane tickets, but an international phone card should be high on the list. A good international...

Android This Week: Nexus One Gets Touch; 720p from Samsung
Google surprised Nexus One owners this week by releasing an update for the Android-based phone. The Nexus One has only been on the market for a month, but the update added a fair bit of functionality — notably multitouch — the lack of which has grated enthusiasts. It also addresses the 3G connectivity problems that some owners had...
